There are a huge number of different poker games styles out there for a person to choose, most of them originating in the United States, but when it comes to these, one of the more simple varieties to learn is Seven Card Stud. This used to be quite a bit more popular than it is today, but with the huge success of Texas Hold ‘em around the world thanks to the media, it is not quite as often chosen as the community card styles. It is simple to learn because the concept is straight forward and this is also believed to be one of the games that was more commonly played during the days of the American cowboy, as it is portrayed in Hollywood films. Even today, some casinos will offer this version, both online and in Las Vegas or Atlantic City establishments, but one of the most important reasons someone would decide to learn to play Seven Card Stud is in order to be a better player in HORSE since the S in this game refers to Seven Card Stud, one of the 5 poker styles played.

Most of those who have been playing poker for a while know about 7 Card Stud, but those who want to learn will find that they should probably start in a smaller game first. This is because the number of cards that can be on the table in a game that goes all the way through the rounds possible is going to wind up with each player having 7 cards. This means that 7 players having 7 cards would use 49 of the total 52 cards in a deck. Since beginning poker players are not going to fold as often as they should, the newer players should play in smaller groups. Vet poker players can go ahead and play games of 8 or 9 people and usually have fine results.

The same as in any other style of poker, there are numerous rounds in 7 Card Stud and they involve players either raising the bets or folding if they do not think that they are going to win based on the hand they hold at the moment. A basic game of 7 Card Stud is sometimes remembered as 2 down, 4 up and 1 down. This is because the first 2 cards are dealt face down, the next 4 cards will be face up and the final card dealt is face down. This helps give the game some mystery and in the end, players will have 7 cards from which they can choose to form their own best hand.

Those who have ever played a round of video poker obviously know that it takes its roots from the stud poker card games that have been popular for a great many years and it is fair to say that this is one game that owes a huge debt to a long history of development which is much more than most video games have behind them. Poker first started up centuries ago either in Europe or in the Middle East region, depending upon which historian one asks, but the basics of the game are the same and in reality it first obtained its real level of popularity in the United States where it was used in saloon settings where cowboys and other workers would come to relax, enjoy a drink and play a game with their friends in which they stood to win some money. Today, video poker machines offer this kind of experience for one player at a time in the same type of setting since they are often offered in bars when there are no slot machines because they are part of the state lotteries.

This is the basis of video poker, but it must be said that back in the Wild West days there were not the casinos that first began to be developed around the middle to later part of the 1900’s. These were where things would really pick up for poker and it is thanks to the frugal nature of these venues and their insistence on the ultimate in ease of play for their customers that helped the video poker industry get started. The casinos had seen the arcade video machines get popular and they wanted to find a way to let their patrons play games for money that would be of a similar style in terms of how they could be played standing up or on a chair. This would help them offer more and fit more people into a given area. Poker was a solid choice because a casino does not usually earn as much in a poker room as they do with a bigger game like roulette or baccarat. So, video poker made sense and since slot machines had already done so well, the video poker machines looked like a great chance for casinos to be able to diversify the ways that they were making money at the time. With the the right hi tech solution, those early video poker machines went from dreams to reality.

Now, the casinos may have been the ones to make video poker popular in the US and perhaps they were even the first that helped them spread to Britain and then Australia where they are called pokies and are very popular, but it was the web that really took video poker to the next level. This is when the online casinos began to offer video poker to compete and have a broader range of games. This is still today a very popular way for poker to be enjoyed by those who are on the go or do not want to visit a land based casino.

There is definitely a truly growing group of gamers on the web who really are crazy about poker, but now there is a new segment that enjoy the faster paced action that would be more common in a slots game and are taking up the concept of video poker in a whole new way. Since this game has been around for quite a long time, this may come as a surprise to some until one takes the time to realize that it is only more recently that the web has opened up to offer a wider variety of options for those who might have gotten bored with the standard bingo or typical poker table games. By expanding the options for players who are looking to win serious prize money, video poker really creates a new experience. However, as with anything that comes out on the web, it is always better to get a fresh perspective from a 3rd party source and this is what the onlinevideopoker.com site has been offering for those who want a bit more of a comprehensive look at the games and casinos that offer them.

This is crucial for the serious gamer who intends to spend a good bit of time playing and since the bonuses these days are so large, it really does make sense for players to try and get the best value that they can. This is why these review sites are so crucial. They go into a lot more detail about the different options and show the ways that they are making things better for those who love to play these games for a chance to win. There have been precious few video poker focused options until recently, but OnlineVideoPoker is one example of a site out to change that fact by offering a much better set of reviews than a more broad site might be able to do. Since it can be much more comprehensive, it is a good example of the direction that these kinds of sites are going in now. With the breadth of information presented in this sector of the market, gamers are a lot more likely to find exactly what they want at a very reasonable price today.

Not having to waste time and energy with sites that are simply not going to give a good return of value is a very nice savings and anyone who plays games regularly knows how important it is to know where to go to have a great time. That is where these review sites shine, bringing the best of the best together for some truly great experiences.

The poker world has a hall of fame and is quite proud of those that are inducted, but many people – even very advanced and long time poker players – are unaware that there is an official Women in Poker Hall of Fame that regularly inducts members to enshrine in ceremonies each September. Founded by the Ladies International Poker Series with sponsors including Card Player Magazine, the hall of fame is designed to honor the females who have not only achieved a high level of success in the world of poker, but who have done a lot to contribute to the community in a positive way. The first members were inducted back in 2008 and since then, the group has gone a long way towards recognizing the contribution of women in the gaming industry. In order to qualify for an induction, potential candidates must undergo very rigorous scrutiny and then be voted in. Not only must they have been involved in the industry for more than 15 years, but they must also have given to the industry in a meaningful way. It could come as a win in a big event, or through business leadership.

Many feel that this hall of fame could help push forward the goal of bringing more talented ladies into the world of poker and for this reason, part of the induction criteria is that the lady in question, either through playing poker or not, must be supportive of the women’s poker events around the world. However, the strict requirements mean that big names like Annette Obrestad and Vanessa Selbst are not yet eligible to be considered. Currently, the women who are being considered include Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman.

Reality TV shows have been big business for quite some time, with the viewers in the United States regularly supporting a whole range of competing shows. One of the first of those shows was Survivor, which pits a number of guests against each other in an effort to survive in sometimes hostile conditions while trying to outwit their opponents, but still work together as a team in order to get through the show’s events. This most recent season, Survivor: Nicaragua, is said to be featuring a poker player. The CBS show has had another poker pro in the past, so this is hailed as proof that poker stars are now going even more main stream and coming into contact with larger parts of the entertainment world. This is good news for the poker industry which is able to get free publicity by these stars and it can help build the level of active participants in the games, as well.

The news comes from a source inside the CBS organization that has requested to remain anonymous, but goes on to say that the company had been on the look out for a high stakes poker pro who could heat up the show and bring a different mindset that might be able to refresh the series. According to the source, a number of poker pros are looking as if they may be up for consideration. These include Shaun Deeb, Alex Kamberis, Tom Dwan and Tony Dunst. Already, the poker world is abuzz with hope that this projection will become a reality.

As much of the world continues to adjust to the changes brought on by the sudden rise of online poker as a massive sector of the online gaming industry, several nations have been considering if or how they plan to regulate their citizens taking part in the games. In Australia, it appears that the local authorities are coming to favor the concept of poker online and a recent study by an independent advisory group for the Australian federal government, known as the Australian Productivity Commission, has put forth a report that it believe the games should be allowed. According to this report, the government is being advised to repeal the Interactive Gambling Act and allow for the passing of a number of new laws that will protect this vital and growing sector of the Australian economy that could go quite far in helping the country at the economic level. By allowing for the supply of the poker games over the web, the report states, the safest form of online gaming, the government stands a better chance at handling other more pressing concerns that have a negative effect on the nation.

By ‘liberalizing’ the approach to online poker, those in the nation would be able to enjoy the games with a lot less hassle and this is after the report proved the social impacts of poker on the web are not harmful, a key feature they wanted to investigate. Its neighbor, New Zealand, has already decided that the poker world is something the country can be in support of so it comes as no surprised to market experts that Australia will very likely soon follow suit.

Poker is a popular past time among many of the world’s elite and this includes music stars, movie stars and, of course, top pro athletes. Often, these people will get together to hold charity poker events as a way to earn money for those in less fortunate conditions and have some fun at the same time. An event of this nature is being hosted by one of the National Football League’s big stars, Terrell Thomas. Thomas is a cornerback for the New York Giants NFL team and is noted for many contributions to the different charity events that are a regular part of his work with the NFL. The football pro is now hosting his own all star poker tournament, set to be held at the Ontario Airport Hilton, according to the star’s official blog postings. The charity poker tourney will invite a number of famed NFL and University of Southern California football players to take part. Although the names have not yet been released, insiders report that it is like Thomas’ star power will pull in quite a few big names as he has been able to do in the past when working to raise funds for his Terrell Thomas Charities.

After the all star poker event, Steve Smith, a wide receiver for the New York Giants and team mate of Thomas, will head with a number of other USC football players to a free football camp for youth located in Rancho Cucamonga, California at the local high school which is where Thomas graduated. The camp is hosted by We Are SC and will be open to young people between the ages of 5 and 15.

The battle to bring online poker back to the United States, where the games were first started up so many years ago, is on full blast now say political insiders across the nation. In addition to moves being made by East Coast states such as New Hampshire and New Jersey, there is significant motion happening on the West Coast, as well. The state of California is seeking to start up a new proposal to get online poker back into the state and go around the recent federal law that a vast number of Americans have found to be unfair and economically damaging to the general interest of the US population. A California Senator from Inglewood has decided to take things further, changing his 20 percent gross taxation on sanctioned web poker businesses down to 10 percent in order to keep the industry strong. While some opponents are upset by this move, there would still be enough income earned for the state of California, say economic advisors, to be able to rely on a large and steady stream of cash for the state that is still battling harsh conditions as it tries to recover from the recent recession that struck hard back in the late half of the millennium’s first decade.

If the bill is passed it would mean very good things for US poker players because a large percentage of the US population currently resides in California and gaming is a big sport there. In addition to the lowering of the tax rate to help promote gaming, the contracts offered will be 20 years in length rather than 5.

These days, poker is one of the most popular wagering games not only on the web, but in the world in general. Much of this is because of the success of Texas Hold ‘em as a style of poker that many people recognize. they recognize this form of the game because it is the style that is seen in the TV shows that focus on the tourneys that are broadcast and also because this is the top choice for players on the web and many poker web sites actually focus on offering this game instead of the other varieties out there. That means that those who want to be able to have a rousing game going at any hour online are going to want to make sure that this is one of the varieties of poker they know how to play. It is also the version of poker that is most likely to be offered in a casino setting since it is well known by those who visit the casinos and the establishments generally tend to focus on just one or 2 styles of poker since they do not make as much on this game as on many of the others.

With a huge number of fans out there, it comes as no surprise that learning Texas Hold ‘em can happen pretty quick since there are plenty of people around who can school a new player in how the game works. At its heart, this is a community card game which means that it is going to be offering a variety of different types of moves that players can make from the 5 community cards on the table. This increases the complexity of the game in some ways because the flop, which is the name for the cards on the table that everyone can use to form their hands, is going to be a bit tougher to work with than in many other styles of the game like stud poker where things are simpler and can move quicker. At the same time, this extra complexity is what makes the game so attractive to those who prefer a bit more of the strategy in their poker play and do not mind waiting a bit of extra time for the players at the table to make their move. In genera, though, Texas Hold ‘em moves fairly rapidly.

Any serious aspiring poker pro really does need to learn Texas Hold ‘em in order to score the big winnings.

With all the different varieties of poker that are popular these days in the casinos it may come as a surprise to some people to learn that poker, as a general rule, is not normally learned first in its most popular style because the game is generally first learned – especially for those tho are going to look into a live wagering game – in the home of friends or family. In this situation, it is not usually the Hold ‘em style of games that are learned, but rather the 5 Card Draw version of poker. The reason for this is that 5 Card Draw is one of the very simplest versions of poker available for anyone. Due to this, the game is going to be easier for a player to pick up and in a home environment with all the distractions, it is a good way to go, especially at a party or in a dorm room setting. There are a lot of basics about poker that 5 Card Draw can teach players so that they know how hand values work and can later build on this basic knowledge to play the more popular versions of the game such as Omaha or Texas Hold ‘em. This means 5 Card Draw is probably the smartest place to start.

Just as its name suggest, 5 Card Draw is not a community card game, but rather a game where each turn sees the players discarding or drawing cards to add to their hand so that they can alter it and try to get the most valuable hand they can. If they are able to do this then things will be much easier, but remember there are sometimes going to be limits on the number of cards that players are allowed to discard and draw new. The typical limit, at least for most home games, is going to be 3 cards. Still, checking with the dealer as the rules of the house is always advised because different groups are going to have different approaches to this game. Understanding those house rules can really help players get a good grasp of how they can better their style for the game involved and win a lot more. Each round, players will need to raise, call or fold just as in any other poker game so the whole experience will move along a lot more quickly in 5 Card Draw than any other version of poker.
